I have fond memories of the Fourth of July holiday, like the time my dad took my sisters and I to some big block party when we lived in Las Vegas. I was probably 6 or 7. There was this contest for the younger kids, which involved catching a chicken.
Well, I caught it. The prize for catching it was that you kept it and took it home. My Mom wasn’t too happy about that. Especially when, on the way home, it pecked my older sister on the face. She was freakin out. I thought it was funny. Good times.
Luckily my grandparents lived on an acre, in Vegas, and kept chickens. So it became part of the flock in my grandpa’s chicken coop.
Here’s to hoping you have good memories of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, and here’s a pretty good collage of presidents “singing” the Star Spangled Banner to start it off.
